Should I Hire A Paralegal Service or an Experienced Family Law Attorney

One does not have to have any special training to call themselves a paralegal in Arizona. Many people who call themselves paralegals have never worked for a law firm or appeared in court.

Paralegals or document preparers, are not allowed to provide legal advice, although some do, often poor advice, which can lead to incorrect documents being filed with the court and not being properly informed regarding your legal rights.

All document preparers websites tell you they cannot give you legal advice, and that you should contact an attorney if you want to pursue legal advice. Most document preparers offer free consultations. But, what is the consultation for if they cannot offer legal advice?

Many people have had very bad experiences with independent paralegal services or storefronts. Often the forms are not prepared properly. Paralegals sometimes attempt to represent both sides or align themselves with one side. Many people are not protected in the end.

The biggest insult is that people sometimes end up paying more for a paralegal, than if they would have paid for an experienced family law attorney. Document preparers cannot provide you with legal advice like family attorneys can.
